National Pediatric Disaster Coalition

The NPDC acts as a nationwide clearinghouse, incubator, and connector. They bring together a diverse, multi-disciplinary community—including healthcare professionals, pediatric disaster scientists, emergency managers, families, and community advocates—to advance preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery strategies specifically tailored to the unique physical and behavioral needs of children.

How They Make an Impact

  • Connecting Experts: Serve as a hub for subject matter experts, bridging the gap between evidence-based disaster science and real-world application.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Ensure that responders, hospitals, and policymakers have the tools necessary to protect our most vulnerable population through dissemination partnerships that address the needs of children across sectors.
  • Advocacy & Awareness: Actively champion the inclusion of pediatric needs in all levels of emergency planning, informing and advocating for policies that recognize children’s unique physiological and developmental vulnerabilities.
  • Empowering Communities: Foster a culture of collaboration and resilience where families and communities are equipped to handle crises effectively.
